Answer: Yes

Installing artificial turf is a DIY friendly project. However, there are processes and some things to understand in order to ensure a proper installation. With some research and/or support, you can successfully install artificial turf indoors and out.

There is also the option to create a hybrid project. This would include some professional help alongside your own efforts. Sometimes this can include things such as creating the foundation and base, concrete pouring (if that is the chosen base method), or even just professional help planning the project with someone to answer questions along the way. For our customers, we provide those services. You can start that process here.

Basic tools required are a measuring tape, wheelbarrow, handtools for removing sod, leveling the soil, and tamping the surface. You will, in some applications, spread some form of crushed rock below the base, and then a final layer of fine material at the top. You will need a box cutter or carpet cutter for cutting the turf sections, turf seam tape, and adhesive for joining edges. Also, some basic garden staples or nails can be used to hold the turf down to the base. Spreading infill will be another process to plan for, generally, a basic drop spreader is used. A broom or turf brush will be used to level the infill and groom the synthetic grass blades.

Some optional tools that can make the process easier can include a carpet spreader (for stretching the turf), a glue box, a powered plate compactor, and a power broom.
