Answer: Synthetic grass is an artificial turf product that is designed to look and feel like natural grass.

Synthetic grass is a combination of thermoplastic materials usually consisting of nylon, polypropylene, or polyethylene. The thermoplastic materials are placed into a hopper where dyes and UV stabilizers are added to create the natural color and protect the product from UV damage. Synthetic grass is usually a layered construction made up of a backing, a thatching layer, and the individual synthetic grass blades. This is assembled utilizing the same weaving process as carpet.

Synthetic grass products can each have a specific pile height. Pile height is the length of the grass blades. Usually marked as short (1.2″), medium (1.2-1.5″), or long (greater than 1.5″).

Synthetic grass is commonly used in sports fields, playgrounds, residential areas, indoor arenas, dog areas, and training surfaces (gyms, batting cages, etc).

Synthetic grass can also be manufactured with several different types of color variations and attributes.
