1. Make Your Own Putting Green

You don’t need to be a millionaire to have a putting green in your house—make one yourself. It’s as simple as drilling out the hole for the cup location, installing some used turf over the top, and carefully cutting out a round hole over the cup with a simple utility knife. Viola—your own private, custom, indoor putting green.

2. Have the Most Durable, Washable Doormat in the Neighborhood

One of the ways turf is used most often is to create a soft transitional area between indoor and outdoor living areas. You can repurpose a small piece of used turf to create a durable, easily washable mat for your guests to wipe off their feet before they head inside.

3. Non-Toxic, Durable, Washable Flooring for Child Play Areas

ReTURF’s used turf is not only non-toxic, it’s very soft. These qualities make it a perfect ground cover for children to play on, both indoors and outdoors. You can repurpose turf by “carpeting” an entire room with it (in the same way you’d lay a regular carpet). Alternatively, you can use it as a soft surface in a small sectioned off play area (like a play pen), if you don’t need an entire playroom covered.

4. Give Your Pets Some (Ground) Cover

The same qualities that make used turf perfect for childrens’ play areas make it ideal for pet play areas. It also makes a soft, durable (and easily washable) floor for your pets to relax on when they’re in their crate/kennel. As much as they would love it, constantly laying and replacing grass in your pet’s crate is, obviously, impractical… and more than a little messy.

With used turf, you can give your pets the feeling of the outdoors (without the allergies) even when they have to be inside for a bit. Meanwhile, you can enjoy the benefits of a happier pet having a natural feeling, durable, nearly maintenance-free soft surface to relax and play on.

5. Use Turf as an Area Rug for Indoor (and Outdoor) Living Spaces

Depending on what you’ve got going on in your home design, a turf “area rug” could be a perfect fit for your rec room, media room, man cave, she shed—even as a simple rug in a sun room/Florida room. Turf “rugs” fit in especially well in transitional areas like sun rooms, balconies, and porches, but they can still fit in equally well in more interior rooms.

Watch a lot of sports in your media room? A turf area rug is an unexpected and elegant décor choice that brings a fresh, outdoor feel to one of the rooms in the house that tends to be one of the least “open” feeling.

6. Walkways Between Outdoor Paved Areas

With its low cost and extreme durability, used artificial turf is ideal for repurposing in high-traffic walkway areas in the yard—places where regular grass can end up looking pretty rough.

You can utilize used turf to lay out simple, straight walkways or make elegant, winding pathways between paved areas, driveways, courtyards, patios, gardens, gazebos—anywhere regular grass is routinely trampled.

7. Achieve a High-End Look for Your Walkway (Without the Mowing Issues)

You may have seen grass used in between square paver stones in a walkway. Landscape designers use this technique to “soften” the look of a hardscape, and create a gentle transition between the stone walkway and a surrounding garden.

While it’s a very contemporary and upscale look, it can be difficult to maintain with living grass since pavers get in the way of the path of the mower. You can repurpose used turf to achieve the same style without ever having to worry about mowing between the paver stones.
